Jamee's ’13 Points of Power’ class combined the science of intentional movement and ancient healing methods. Her delivery is insightful and thoughtful. I have gotten a lot out of Jamee’s Alexander Class on Zoom. I was skeptical without hands on but Jamee is always able to spot various places where I am holding a part of my body static rather than relaxing and letting that part “be” and feel space around it. She’s excellent at this — I wouldn’t have thought it possible! So, zoom has been a great way to practice embodying this technique. I have also gotten a lot out of similar comments she makes to others. Not just things I could benefit from but her going to another person gives me a little “down time” to tune into my body and incorporate what she’s just mentioned. When I had one-on-one lessons I found that all the undivided attention on my body made me feel self-conscious. This way I have more space to work with releasing at my own pace. Jamee really knows her material! She is very experienced and, as I said, can easily spot areas for release over Zoom. I am actually making significantly more headway than I ever did with one-on-one. I would encourage anyone to find out what it’s like to work with Jamee. Also, I thoroughly enjoy the other people in the class. There is a subtle group energy that is lovely. So glad I hooked up with this class!

My first experience with the Alexander Technique was with Jamee back in early 2002 at a retreat I was attending. When Jamee worked with me, she would touch a part of my body and speak to me about how I could make small movements to come into greater ease in this area. As we moved through the session, I felt many changes and a sense of greater ease in movement as a result. Afterwards, I was surprised at the physical changes as well as the shift in my awareness of how by body’s holding patterns were linked with unexpressed sadness I had around loss and abandonment. Over time, I became more and more aware of my holding patterns and associated emotions. Most recently during this pandemic, I joined Jamee’s Alexander Technique class online over Zoom. Without touching me, Jamee could really “see me” over the distance and help me understand how I was holding my body. As she guided me through small movements and shifts in my body, without touch, I could feel these changes and once again begin to grow my awareness of how I hold my body during this stressful time, and how I can come into greater coherence and flow. These sessions with Jamee have been my “go to” for transformation and ease during this stressful time. Now, every day, I grow my awareness around how I am holding my body and put into practice the gentle movements that bring about greater ease and flow in my body and calmness to my mind and spirit throughout my day.
